Serving Clergy Since 1975

The Massachusetts Episcopal Clergy Association (MECA) was one of the first associations of clergy founded in this country. MECA has been in forefront of efforts to support Massachusetts clergy in their ministry, spiritual lives, and personal wellness.

Mission Statement

The purpose of MECA, as found in its statement of purpose dated January 23, 1975, is to foster constructive initiative among the Episcopal Clergy of Massachusetts to:

  • Improve their working environment;
  • Upgrade their ministerial competence and effectiveness;
  • Provide one another mutual support, personally and professionally;
  • Consult with and stimulate the Bishop(s), Diocese, and the National Church regarding the ministry and mission of Christ's Church.

Membership

Membership in MECA is open to all ordained Episcopal clergy resident in the Diocese of Massachusetts, whether canonically or otherwise, who pay the requisite annual dues. The membership year runs from January 1 to December 31.

Meetings

MECA meets during the Annual Clergy Conference, at a time and manner determined by the Board, for the following purposes:

  • To report to the clergy on MECA's activities in the past year, MECA's income, expenses, and budget, and to set forth MECA'S goals for the coming year;
  • To obtain feedback on the concerns of clergy.
